Giving Support following redundancy - Employee Groups

This short workshop is designed for peer group staff who will be available to support those who have been advised they may be made redundant. The workshop enables participants to better appreciate the human factors of change and redundancy, as well as the ‘ripple effect’ that results.  The focus is practical, based on information, discussion and exercises using the key communication skills applicable to a number of crisis situations. It will enable support staff to respond with understanding and will give them greater confidence in handling these sensitive situations.

Objectives
  • To enable a better understanding of how people typically respond to news of redundancy
  • To discuss, and demystify, how to communicate most effectively with people who have been given bad news
  • To prepare support staff  so they may act with humanity and greater confidence in sensitive situations
  • To suggest appropriate and professional responses to distress in others
  • To offer guidelines on identifying when to intervene and how best to support and advise staff where needed.
