Disabled Staff in your Team - A one day course for Managers
The DDA aims to eliminate the discrimination faced by disabled people and to promote equality of opportunity and many legal rights and obligations affecting disabled people’s access to services and employment are already in force. However many managers are often not clear about the requirements under law and are unsure how to implement “best practice” to make it easier for disabled people to be integrated into the work force
This intensive one day course offers the opportunity for managers to explore their understanding of disability, to understand current legislation and how it applies in the workplace. Through discussion, exercises and case studies, delegates will develop clarity about their responsibilities as managers, be able to identify practical measures to enable disabled staff and understand how to take a proactive approach towards creating and maintaining a supportive working environment
Objectives
By the end of the course delegates will:
- Understand the definitions of disability and discrimination
- Be aware of recent legislation and the impact on workplace infrastructure and on working practice
