Dignity at Work – for Managers
Creating an environment where people can flourish
This training module is designed to support managers and help them create and manage a ‘healthier’ workplace where individuals can flourish. This half day, intensive and interactive workshop will equip managers at all levels in the organisation with a clear understanding of the concept of “Dignity at Work”, the many facets of diversity and the practical skills to deal with the impact of new legislation and their management responsibilities. It also equips managers to recognise the dynamics of negative behaviour, the types of behaviour which can so easily be misinterpreted and offers appropriate ways of handling problems in a timely manner.
Objectives
- To raise awareness of the factors that create workplace inequalities for staff based on perceived “difference”
- have a common understanding of what is meant by stereotyping, prejudice, discrimination, bullying and harassment, victimisation and vicarious liability
- To be able to identify when these are occurring through symptoms, behaviour , relationships and to have a practical understanding of how to handle problems appropriately.
- To recognise potential causes and be able to identify appropriate actions.
- To create a shared language around “Dignity at Work” which supports organisational policy and which will enable managers to challenge and deal safely and effectively with inappropriate behaviours.
- To understand their own role and influence
- To understand the statutory obligations towards staff, how to protect them and the interests of the organisation
